ABOUT THIS ARTWORK

This 11 x 14 inch acrylic painting on paper is a vibrant and emotionally charged piece, created during a time of personal reflection and revelation. Inspired by the quote from Luigi Pirandello, "You will learn at your own expense that throughout your life you will meet more masks than faces," this artwork explores themes of deception and false friendships.
Background and Inspiration:The painting emerged from a period when I discovered that some people I considered friends were gossiping about me behind my back. This betrayal and disappointment led me to express my feelings through art, using masks as a powerful symbol of their fake friendship. The masks represent the false faces people wear, hiding their true intentions and feelings.
Description of the Artwork:The background is an abstract blend of bold, energetic strokes in shades of yellow, green, red, and blue, creating a lively and textured environment. In the foreground, three elaborately decorated masks dominate the scene, each intricately detailed and colorful:The central mask is a striking blue with intricate swirling patterns and delicate, layered plumage extending upwards. To the left, a green mask adorned with leafy designs and a partial face is partially visible. On the right, another mask features a burst of colorful feathers, adding to the festive yet deceptive atmosphere. The text "Art is my Universe" is prominently displayed, linking the piece to my website and underscoring my dedication to art as a means of expression and coping.Curatorial Review:This piece has been selected as the Cover Image and Featured Post for the weekend edition of Artmagazine, accompanied by a thoughtful review from Giorgio Pilla, Art Critic:"As a Venetian, my encounter with the 'MASK' takes on a pedagogical role in the discovery of some mystery of existence. Today, in front of this work, I immediately sensed that the author had created interpretative challenges, compelling the observer to open their mind to discover where such blocks were located......Jasmin Jass Sandino, with her technique, her imagination, and the propriety of language, light, and color, has given concreteness to thought, hoping to have granted everyone the certainty of meeting FACES and not MASKS on their path!"Conclusion:Through this painting, I aim to remind viewers that while we may encounter more masks than faces in life, it is crucial to seek authenticity and substance in our relationships and ourselves. Art, with its power to reveal truth and evoke deep emotions, serves as my universe—a place where I can explore, express, and connect.Explore more of my work and join me on this artistic journey at Art is my Universe
