Lime Motion – Contemporary Mixed Media Painting by Jasmina Mendoza

Lime Motion – Contemporary Mixed Media Painting by Jasmina Mendoza

Lime Motion is an original 30 x 30 cm contemporary mixed media painting on canvas by Jasmina Mendoza, combining vibrant citrus imagery with the fluid energy of acrylic pouring.

Created using acrylic inks, acrylic paint, pouring techniques, and brushwork, the painting explores movement, freshness, contrast, and colour. Bright green limes become the focal point against a dramatic black background filled with energetic splashes of white, yellow, green, and blue. The pouring technique creates spontaneous movement across the surface, while painted details bring structure and definition to the fruit.

The result is a bold fusion of expressive abstraction, contemporary still life, semi-realism, and fluid art. Rather than aiming for photographic realism, the painting balances recognisable lime forms with loose, energetic marks and flowing colour.

The dark background intensifies the luminous greens and yellows, giving the artwork a fresh, modern presence that works especially well in contemporary, minimalist, eclectic, or nature-inspired interiors.

Beyond their vivid colour and freshness, lemons and limes also carry a deeper symbolic meaning for me. They have long been associated with cleansing, vitality, spiritual protection, and wellbeing. In Lime Motion, their bright green and yellow tones become more than fruit — they represent renewal, positive energy, and the desire to protect both body and spirit. Surrounded by movement, splashes, and flowing colour, they feel almost like a burst of life breaking through darkness. The painting reflects the idea that even in chaotic moments, we can still hold onto something fresh, protective, and full of energy.
