Ocean Exploration is an original ocean-inspired abstract painting created in 2021 by Jasmina Mendoza, using acrylics on 360 gsm textured paper. What began as an idea for flowers became an unexpected journey beneath the waves, where colour and imagination revealed something entirely different.

To create its unusual patterns, Mendoza placed acrylic colours onto the paper, inflated a balloon, and pressed it into the paint. Each impression formed delicate, branching textures reminiscent of coral reefs, sea anemones, and mysterious underwater life.

Layers of turquoise, deep blue, soft pink, and pale yellow flow together like sunlight filtering through ocean water. Organic shapes seem to bloom and drift, inviting the viewer to explore a peaceful world filled with movement, curiosity, and wonder.

Rather than forcing the painting to follow her original plan, the artist embraced the surprise of the process. Ocean Exploration celebrates experimentation, creative freedom, and the beauty of discovering something unexpected.
